The median number is used to determine an approximate average. In a series of numbers, the median is the middle number once the numbers have been arranged in order from the lowest to the highest. If there is an odd amount of numbers in the sequence, the median number will be the middle one. If there is an even amount of numbers, the median number will be the average of the two middle numbers, so it will be a number that is not actually be included in the number sequence.
