Inheritance Tax

Inheritance tax is a tax that must be paid on the value of the estate of somebody who has died. There is a minimum value that your estate must hold before the tax must be paid, and, if you are leaving your estate to your spouse or your civil partner, there is usually no inheritance tax owing. If the deceased person has made a will, the tax is paid by the executor of the will.
