Discretionary Trust

When a discretionary trust is set up, the beneficiaries are named, and control of all of the assets in the trust lie with the trustees (the people who control the trust). They decide the timing of payments from the trust, as well as deciding what each beneficiary gets. Discretionary trusts are considered to be a tax-efficient yet flexible way to keep wealth within a family.
